Disciplinary issues
One umpire was recently selected and accepted an appointment to umpire one of the league finals at Chester Road; considered to be an honour. He later withdrew. In the fullness of time his decision was found to be influenced by having received a more lucrative offer. The committee took a dim view of his actions, were disappointed by his lack of commitment and loyalty to the league. The committee will write to the Umpire Association expressing their displeasure and although this person may be nominated for final appointment during the 2016 and 2017 seasons they will be refused.
Umpires have raised concerns about some players conduct and language. Whilst the committee is more than willing to act on such matters their hands are tied by the rules i.e. they cannot act until an official complaint about a specific player has been received which must be in written form from the officiating umpires.
