CORRESPONDENCE umpires report from Tony Kidd ref Stone v Alveley. Ryan Cooper (Stone) – inappropriate and deliberate physical contact. The case was discussed and an email was forwarded to the Stone captain in an attempt to deal with the issue during the concluding current season offering a level two punishment. The committee received a response declining this offer preferring to attend a disciplinary hearing. This has been set for 8th October at 7.30 pm.
[NOTE: this issue was subsequently resolved with the club and player accepting a level 2 punishment; all affected parties were alerted to a 14 day ban covering Stone’s last two matches and any other ECB governed cricket during that period]
FINANCES were as last meeting
RULE CHANGES were discussed with the following being placed before the September meeting for discussion
- Wides being replaced by 2 runs and no additional ball
- Playing Wednesday only, season reduction, less cup matches, free Wednesdays all these points were considered in a favourable light but with depend upon the number of teams registering with the league
- Fielding restriction are to be voted upon by those currently not affected (i.e. Division A teams).
- Are we willing to trial matches where a run handicap is introduced to equate the outcome?
Presentation evening: a second guest is to be considered along with name concealed.
The pink balls were a success and will be continued. We now have a stock of used, replacement balls supporting the new balls for 2020 finals.
Should the matches on 14th August be rain affected, teams are given the option of replacing by Tuesday 20th August or toss a coin. Results need to be promptly communicated.
