STAGBOROUGH C.C. v WEST HAGLEY C.C.
UMPIRES PAT KELLY & ROGER TOLCHARD
PLAYED AT BEWDLEY CRICKET CLUB, LOWER PARK
Stagborough won the toss and decided to bat on an overcast, yet warm, evening. Within three balls their innings was in tatters with both Ryan Derrick and Craig Siwicki, their two senior batters, out to the pace bowling of Bilal Hassan.
Despite this, Stagborough’s batters continued to try to attack. However, canny bowling, especially from the spinners, meant wickets fell regularly and they were bowled out in the final over for 79. Top scorers were James Harris (20) and Sam Foley (16) while Vinny Taqora took 3 for 17.
West Hagley’s openers made a steady if unspectacular start. Enthusiastic fielding from Stagborough limited the scoring. West Hagley’s first wicket went down at 26 but they were always in control with Abu Saeed (44 not out) to the fore. The under par first innings score was easily passed in the 9th over.
Presentations followed with Bilal Hassan named Man of the Match for his opening burst with the ball. Bewdley ground authorities were thanked for the use of their excellent facilities.
