TOP WEDNESDAY BATTING & BOWLING SCORES 2013
TOP WEDNESDAY BATTING AND BOWLING SCORES 2013 * = Not out / Hattrick. C = Cup match. Best Performances: Ansar of Waterfront with 6 wickets for 10 runs including a hattrick in their win over Netherton. Lee Slipenzicky hit 83 not out in Sportsman’s opening stand of 113. Best Performances: Paul Thomas of Cookley finished on 99 not out in their 61 run win over Arley. Rich Leach took 5 wickets for 20 runs for Areley Kings. Best Performances: In form Paul Morgan of Hagley hit 129 in their huge 141 run win over Gas. Josh Tristan of Alveley B took 5-8 in a 9 wicket victory over Pack Horse Inn. Stourport had an unbroken first wicket stand of 139, from Craig Siwicki 77 not out and Steve Yarsley 51 not out in their win over Lye A. Arley man of the match Matt Watkins went 45 not out and 3-16 against Stone in their first win of the season. June 5th 2013 Best Performances: Despite Zubair Bhatti’s 71 not out for Lye B they fell 7 runs shy of victory against Lye A, who had performances of 4-42 by N. Ahmed and 43 with the bat by John McDonald. Mark Billingham of Stone hit 41 in their first league win of the season. A hattrick by John Perry took him to 4-24 as Waterfront beat Dudley Knight Riders. Alveley B won a close game with a huge contribution of 5-16 by Dave Tristam June 12th 2013 Best Performances: Two performances by Connor Franklin of Areley Kings 62 not out and 55 helped win them their Junior Cup semi-final and the only league match played in Div B. June 19th 2013 Best Performances: It took only 25 balls for Ian Osbourne of Stagborough to score 47 not out. Steve Morris also hit 47 not out for Alveley B but more impressively took 5-4 while bowling, to help beat Arley by 61 runs. Amjad and Saeed of Dudley Knight Riders got their team through to the final of the Senior Plate by getting 70 not out and 55 in the game against Bewdley Arches. Cup Finals Invitation Cup 10/10 Final – 18th June Jack Taylor, Paul Thomas, John Martin, M. Wood and B. Quinlan all reached 20 runs before having to retire in Cookley’s 133-0 total. In reply, Stone fell short with 89 for 3. Invitation Plate 10/10 Final – 20th June Sportsman took their first ever cup trophy in a 112-5 v 89-6 win over Alveley B. Despite 20 runs for Josh Tristam and Steve Morris of Alveley B, it was man of the match performance from Sportsman’s Phil Amos, June 26th 2013 Best Performances: Todd Henderson hit 200 not out as Swindon remained unbeated at the top of division A with their 266-1 v 95-7 win over Bewdley Arches. Ben Hickaman joined him in an opening stand of 146 runs before J. Swann came on to push the score to 266-1 after just 12 overs. A player hitting a Double Century in 12 overs is a first for the Wilden League and would be in most others too. It included 21 sixes and 15 fours! Mick Macchia of Bewdley Nomads took 3 wickets for 1 run in just one over. July 3rd 2013 Best Performances: Incredibly Waterfront dismissed the until-then unbeaten Wollescote for only 27 runs to go top in the Premier Division. Charles Foster’s 4-11 and 51 from James Howell were the key contributions. In a low scoring game after 7 overs Bewdley Nomads needed just 6 runs to win, with 6 wickets in hand. Then Tom Gloucester came on to bowl again for Stagborough, taking himself to 5-13 with 4 of those wickets in just one of those final overs and sealing an unlikely win. In the Wednesday Senior Cup semi-final Lye B beat Stagborough with Tofiq scoring 92 and Amir Manzor taking 3-13. July 10th 2013 Best Performances: In the Premier Division R. Aziz of Wollescote hit 99 not out as they set 194-5. In reply Lye A lost wickets quickly and when Kris Ganesh (55) was joined by the number 10 batsman Hamid Shiab it looked a lost cause. Hamid came through with 71 not out including 9 sixes, the last of which won the match with only 2 balls to go. This win moved Lye A joint top with Waterfront. July 17th 2013 Best Performances: Once again Rameez Aziz of Wollescote led them to victory. This time he hit 132 runs and took 2-33 in their 7 wicket Senior Cup semi-final win over Stourport. Hamid came through with 71 not out including 9 sixes, the last of which won the match with only 2 balls to go. This win moved Lye A joint top with Waterfront. July 24th 2013 Best Performances: 3 wickets in 4 balls for Afzaal Khan helped earn him man of the match for Knight Riders in the Senior Plate Final Wednesday Junior Cup Final Highlights: Arley Kings 103-8 v Three Crowns 104-9. (Three Crowns won by 1 wicket) Batting first Once Areley Kings had to thank 17 year old Neil Bowyer and 26 year old Connor Franklin for geting them to 103-8, as Liam Fidoe of Three Crowns put in a Man of the Match performance taking 5-22. In reply Phil Pontney got 41 runs, Adam Grosvenor 16 runs and Ellis Oliver 14 runs took it to the last over to clinch the win, despite heroic bowling from Andy Forbes with 4-15 and 2 wickets each for Dan Cope and Adam Davis. July 31st 2013 Swindon, batting first, got another great performance from Todd Henderson. He had some assistance from Rich Kennedy’s 31 runs, but he finished the innings with 105 not out scoring an amazing 42 runs off the last over! In reply Ryan Delo 36 runs and S. Colley 31 runs made good progress, but it was left to Matt Delo’s 29 runs off 9 balls (including 3 runs off the last delivery) to clinch victory for Stagborough in this exciting match. Cup Finals: Chairman Mark Hall handed out the trophies at both finals Audrey Burley Memorial Trophy Final 2013 – 6th August Hagley 75-3 v Lye B 73-7 – Hagley won by 7 wickets Lye B failed to post a good total, with Zubair Bhatti’s 19 and Amjad Hussain’s 15 runs being the only ones in double figures. Hagley’s best bowler was James Trinham with 1-1 in his over, and he also contributed 11 runs to become Man of the Match. Amjad Ali’s 16 runs was Hagley’s highest batting score as they secured the Trophy. The match began terribly for Arley, who lost three batsmen for 5 runs. They recovered a little with Matt Smith 26, Richard Keay 22 not out and Luke Mundie 20 helping them reach 93-6. West Hagley bowler Razam Mohammad’s 4-22 and 19 runs led them to an easy 9 wicket victory, with Adam Turner’s 35 and Ryan Field‘s 29 the other notable performances. Elliot Lee a 14 year old for Arley took a brilliant 4-17 including a hattrick (all caught) off the last 3 balls of the innings in their win over Pack Horse. Swindon’s Todd Henderson reached 98 runs in their 48 run win over Netherton to just miss his third century in recent games. Cup Finals: Wednesday Senior Cup Final 2013 – 13th August Wollescote 141-8 v 180-6 Lye B. Lye B won by 39 runs. Lye B responded to defeat in a final last week with a star performance from Zubair Bhatti, whose 94 not out came in only 36 balls. Tofiq Anwar’s 33 runs helped swell the total to 180-6 as Wollescote’s Kuldeep Diwan took 3-32. In reply Wollescote struggled with the bowling of Amir Manzoor 3-29 and Rameez Lowe 3-38. Their best hope was Kuldeep Diwan who got 50 runs in 24 balls. Zubair Bhatti was Man of the Match. The match was dominated by the bowling of both sides. Mick Macchia and Jacob Barnsley took 4 wickets each for Bewdley to restrict Knight Riders, but Man of the Match Aglaal Khan responded with 4-19 including 3 in 4 balls. Chris Parks took 6-9 and Mike Wood took 3-13 for Cookley as Alveley were all out for 84 runs. Then Ben Quinlan hit 52 not out to seal the Division B title for Cookley, who remain unbeaten. Netheron clinched the runners-up spot in Division A with a win over Gas. T. Nawal took 4-7 and C. Warby bowled 4-13. Enville avoided relegation by winning with strong performances from C. Bate 53, T. Bingham 42 not out and J. Tristram 3-33.
