Played at Lea Lane Cookley.
After Cookley had scored 147 in under 11 overs the week before to secure victory when the sides met in the league fixture. Oldswinford had no hesitation in winning the toss and choosing to field.
Conor Warby who had smashed a superb 82 No in the league encounter set off in imperious style only to play on to Joe Slater. Slater then tore through the Cookley batting. Twin Brothers Jaime and Lewis Plant achieving identical ducks followed by another zero from Ashley Rhodes as Slater in a ‘Man of the Match’ performance took 4/19. Ben Southall with a determined 48 not out held the innings together. Joe’s younger brother Will Slater chipping in with two wickets. However 116 – 7 never looked enough.
Yet at every moment when Oldswinford looked certain to win wickets fell. Will Slater with 38 not out holding his nerve. In the last over only 8 runs were required but Skipper Danny Soley’s slower ball began to cause problems. In a tense climax two Cookley players collided over a simple catch to gift the visitors the opportunity to take the Cup off the last ball, which they achieved in style.
Oldswinford 120-3 Congratulations.
A fine thrilling game played in good atmosphere.
